Success Stories

How one lovely woman went from failing exams due to showing up late to starting a business.

What problem was getting in your way in life?

"It was initially for anxiety, I was getting into fender benders and had trouble communicating my thoughts.  I couldn't take tests and I missed three job interviews.  Academically I didn't do well. This was hard because my family were all professionals.  I felt smart enough, but I couldn't perform. I was told that I was "hormonal" and had "spring fever" by a doctor.  I even left the bath tub running and left the house once.  I would fail classes due to showing up late for tests.  That's when I decided to seek help."

How did that the problem make you feel?

"It made me feel more anxious, like something was missing and I was different, I couldn't understand what was wrong with me.  I felt very frustrated with life, I would have gone to a better college too if I didn't have this problem."

Describe he process of working with Atlas Psychiatry?

"I first noticed how thorough you were and that you had a method, which other clinics didn't.  You said to me "something is missing, it's not adding up." And that's when you finally gave me a diagnosis, a label that made sense to me.  The psychiatrist referred me to therapy too that taught me the skills that I had missed for 28 years. It felt relieving and a tremendous weight was lifted off of my shoulders.  You gave me good materials to read that taught me how to manage my time, my family, especially how to set boundaries, which was extremely helpful.  I feel like I have a team in place that most patients don't get to experience."

How are things better now?

"I've worked with you for ten years, and my life has been dramatically different.  I was able to get married, have a son, start a business, renovate houses - just completely different.  And, I have had no speeding or traffic tickets for ten years!  I've been able to contribute financially since I could finally focus and learning the skill of choosing the right things for me."

How one college student went from failing senior year four times to graduating.

What problem was getting in your way in life?

"I couldn't graduate college due to anxiety and trouble focusing. I had a lack of understanding of what my problem really was, even though I had seen three different therapists and three different psychiatrists."

How did that the problem make you feel?

"I felt pretty hopeless that no one would be able to understand that I not just had anxiety and depression, but also an unseen illness.  Often doctors made me feel crazy by not validating my condition, which made me feel more anxious and depressed."

Describe the process of working with Atlas Psychiatry?

"You were a psychiatrist that I noticed how thoroughly you went though all the past medications I took, you were persistent in trying other medications in categories that no other doctor had presented as options, and you had the ability to find a different treatment route to go, like a different mechanism of action. You never pushed me to try any medication.  You diagnosed the right issues which no one had done before.  This was a massive help in getting my self right."

How are things better now?

"There has been a complete turnaround in my life!  I had been stuck in a rut for seven years, I had dreams and aspirations that I hadn't achieved.  It helped me get back to work, and later on, college.  I finally graduated after four tries prior to coming to you."

How one professional went from crying for no reason to feeling all the way well.

What problem was getting in your way in life?

"Depression and anxiety, worried about providing for my family, not sleeping at night, struggling day to day, coming home in tears at night."

How did that the problem make you feel?

"I felt sad, lonely, and a lot of guilt since I had a job, a wife, money, but had overwhelming sadness that I couldn't shake."

Describe the process of working with Atlas Psychiatry?

"I met you and you really got to know me, my family history, and therapy history.  You listened and provided good feedback. Every time we spoke you were challenging me to think another way, you recommended workbooks that other doctors had never done before. Eventually, I started Ketamine Therapy because the medications I was taking helped but there was still something missing.  I spoke to a friend who had done this therapy at your practice, so I knew it was an option.  I found the ketamine sessions to be very relaxing, they helped me to focus on what was important in my life, and it helped my mood."

How are things better now?

"Now, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, I'm able to handle situations more, I'm here and more present, I'm able to support my family a lot more, more motivated too.  I'm getting back to the person that I used to be and want to be."

How one technician went from losing three jobs due to panic attacks to anxiety free.

What problem was getting in your way in life?

"I had just lost my third job, my dream job, from having panic attacks. I had seen therapists since twelve years old and took several medications without success. I was picking up bad habits and hanging around the wrong people too. If I drank enough, I thought the pain would go away.  I was crying every night hysterically."

How did that the problem make you feel?

"I lost everything, I was on my knees begging for help, I was at my rock bottom."

Describe the process of working with Atlas Psychiatry?

"My doctor showed me that there were many other medications out there that opened my eyes that there was more help.  The taught me that I wasn't suck in a box and that there was a number of other medications and types of therapy that I hadn't already tried. I ended up completing a whole round of EMDR Therapy which change my entire thinking about treatment and the possibility of getting better. I have a wonderful relationship with my therapist."

"You were the first doctor to analyze my genetics and order my vitamin levels, where my past doctors never brought this up. You acted like "we are getting you well, we are going to get things done here for you," which felt good because in the past I had doctors shrug me off. I became apparent that my past doctors had missed my diagnosis and wasn't being treated for what was actually wrong with me. I felt that you guys actually knew what you were talking about. My doctor was very calm and stoic, but I liked when I made him giggle, that helped me get comfortable. I liked the rustic golds, wall paper, and mahogany, which put me at ease. I thinks it is wonderful that I can get in touch with you with a quick text.  You actually care about me as a patient not just a number walking out the door."

How are things better now?

"I felt soooo much better! I can breath. It's the longest time I've gone without a panic attack.  I've picked up new hobbies, I painted and decorated my house, I cut out all of the toxic people. EMDR helped changed my perspective about people who had harmed me, it allowed me to let go of the traumatic experiences, forgive, and stop blaming my self. I learned how to put up boundaries, especially with my family.  My confidence went way up. Now I feel like "I got this."  I have control over many things now."
