Ketamine

Atlas Psychiatry now offers SPRAVATO™ (esketamine) nasal spray - an innovative, safe, and very effective treatment for depression.

SPRAVATO is the long-awaited outpatient ketamine therapy that has been in the media lately.

Ketamine therapy works via novel neurobiological mechanisms, making it a unique tool in the fight against depression. If you have been unsatisfied with your current anti-depressant therapy, then SPRAVATO™ might be the next best treatment for you.

How it works?

One session of SPRAVATO lasts for two hours at our office. The induction phase consists of six treatments (two per week for three weeks). Thereafter, we choose a maintenance schedule, typically one treatment every one to six weeks.

Each treatment begins with a self administered nasal spray and lasts two hours. We monitor you for changes in vital signs and side effects. Occasional side effects that have been observed in clinical trials include nausea, anxiety, sedation, and increase in blood pressure or pulse. You must avoid operating heavy equipment or machinery until the next morning after a full night’s sleep. Therefore, you will require a ride home after each treatment.

Improvement in mood is rapid - within hours - not like typical anti-depressants.

Many insurances cover SPRAVATO. We can conduct a benefits investigation on your behalf to see if you qualify. In addition, we charge an office fee for managing the induction and maintenance phases of your treatment.
